Packing “Light” For A Weekend Away

I’m heading off to Florida for a weekend away, and for me, the only downside is packing. Packing light is one thing I’ve never been good at. Instead of leaving my favorite items at home, or standing in line to check a bag, I’ve found a few ways to get away with my over-packing tendencies. I’ll be gone for four days and three nights, but I’m obviously going to pack enough for a week or two. Believe it or not, I’m going to make everything fit into my carry-on luggage and my purse.

In my luggage:

  • 2 pairs of heels
  • 3 pairs of sandals
  • 3 swimsuits
  • 1 pair of jean shorts
  • 2 blouses
  • 2 t-shirts
  • 7 dresses
  • 2 rompers
  • 3 cover-ups
  • 1 crossbody bag
  • 1 floppy hat
  • strapless bra & underwear
  • straightener

In my purse:

  • makeup bag
  • toiletry bag
  • hair brush
  • wallet
  • ipad
  • headphones
  • magazine
  • phone charger
  • sunglasses

Here’s How It’s Done:
Roll absolutely everything, even your swimsuits. Shove small items like underwear into your shoes. Utilize the outside pockets of your luggage with flat items like sandals. Place the bulky shoes stuffed with small items into your main luggage compartment first. Then stack all rolled clothing around the shoes. Place bras and suits inside the floppy hat’s head area. Then carefully fold the floppy sides inward and place it on top of the clothing. Once you land and get settled, remove the hat first to avoid ruining it. Then hang up your clothing to loosen any wrinkles.
