Drugstore Beauty Favorites

Happy Thursday Ladies!

Today we are sharing affordable drugstore beauty products that actually work! Anyone else feel like they walk out of Ulta or Sephoa with three items and at least $100 poorer? We know the feeling (aaaaall too well:)). While they’re are some designer products that are worth the splurge (a good foundation, or special skin care treatments) we like to save where we can and use less costly options for items we use a LOT of/everyday. Let’s be honest, spending $30+ on a mascara that will get me through a few weeks is not realistic. At least not on this working girl‚Äôs budget! Lol! Luckily, with all the options out there, there are plenty of low cost designer dupes to help you get your desired look for less! Everything on this list are products that we truly use (and have used for years) and fallen in love with! We know you will too!

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream– Never too early to start fighting off those wrinkles! My mom has used this night cream for years and got me hooked on it as well! I have a lot of sun spots (thanks to years of tanning without using spf.. ugh why did I do that?!?) and have seen a big improvement in the overall look of my skin with this cream. It is also great for anyone who has super dry skin as it will give you enough moisture to last through the day. I personally prefer to use a lighter moisturizer under my makeup (as my foundation is a BB cream) and then supplement with this repair cream at night on a bare face. You may experience some slight tingling/burning sensation – it’s just the accelerated retinol doing it’s job and I found it lessened as I used it ūüôā Priced under $25!

Sally Hansen Gel Nail Polish–¬†Mikki and I both love doing our own nails over going to the nail salon.¬† I find it super relaxing and I get too restless sitting in a manicure chair for 45 minutes haha. There are so many at home gel treatments but none work as well as the Sally Hansen brand in my opinion! While it isn’t totally chip proof- I normally get about 4 days of wear before needing to touch up the polish which is a win in my book! I also plan to try this top coat to go with it to see if that helps it keep a few more days!

Elf Liquid Eyeliner–¬†I often switch between liquid eyeliner and a pencil but with this stick by Elf you get the best of both worlds! The applicator shape is perfect for achieving a winged look. I was worried that the applicator would dry out or lose it’s shape and begin to fray like some other liquid eye applicators tend to but I was pleasantly surprised! For just $3, this is by far the best deal on the list!

Maybelline Brow Pencil- Now that full brows are in, this brow pencil has been a staple in my makeup bag! Whether you over plucked or just looking to darken your brows, this pencil is a great tool. I make little brush strokes striking in an upward motion. This will help you get the natural¬†look and avoid looking like you painted on your brows:) It comes in various shades, I use “dark brown”. Just $7!

L’Oreal Lash Paradise MascaraThis is the first Mascara that I have actually repurchased! I am always switching it up and love trying new brands but this L’Oeal Lash Paradise Mascara is too good not to stay loyal to! It is a great dupe of the designer version (splurge here). I have used both the designer and the duper and honestly the only difference is in the price ($8.99 for the dupe, $23.00 for designer).

TRESemme HairsprayOut of aaaaall the hairsprays I have tried, this by far is my favorite! I even got Mikki hooked on it! It has the perfect hold for everyday wear and doesn’t leave your hair feeling stiff or “crunchy” like some other firm hold hairsprays tend to do.

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In Hair Treatment I swear by this leave in treatment. I have been using It’s a 10 since my college days- am I aging myself? Haha. If there is one hair care¬†treatment/leave in product to buy, it’s this one! It acts as a thermal protector, helps control frizz, protects your color, and prevents split ends. I love that it is super lightweight. You won’t even be able to tell you have any product in your hair at all!¬† I also use the hair mask (shop it here) once to twice a week and use the leave in treatment with every wash. Under $30!

Holiday Looks: Party Ready with Versona

Hi Ladies!

We are officially in the holiday spirit; trees are up and decorated, Christmas shopping is complete (check out our holiday gift guide here if you’ve been procrastinating:)) and the Xmas movie marathons have ensued. With the holidays comes a lot of holiday parties. We are so excited to team up with Versona to bring you two holiday looks to get you holiday party ready. These looks are versatile enough to wear all season long & after the holidays are over! Be sure to enter our giveaway at the end of this post! ūüôā

I love the velevet trend but struggled to find a velvet piece that was good quality & didn’t look overwhelming. When I saw this one from Versona I knew it was a must have! How pretty is the burgundy color? It also comes in a deep green that’s equally gorg!¬†You could easily dress this top up with statement earrings (I just purchased these¬†in black¬†under $6!) or pair it with a blazer for a work-friendly look (love this one).

Wearing a jumpsuit or a fun pair of pants to a holiday party mixes it up from a standard cocktail dress. Leather pants/leggings are a closet staple in my book! This pair from Versona has a zipper side seem and a zipper detail on the legs making them a little bit dressier (and a better fit) than faux leggings. I ordered a size small for reference. I paired it with these strappy heels but would also look so cute with booties if you need a snow-friendly option:) These would be fun if you want to make a statement!

Top // Faux Leather Pants //  Shoes

Does anyone else struggle to find age appropriate dresses, that aren’t too revealing (or short!) but are still trendy?!? Add a baby bump in the mix and it’s next to impossible. Until I found this one from Versona priced under $50! The stretchy fabric makes this dress maternity friendly and will fit my growing bump. I also love the the cut out detail that isn’t too revealing:) I paired it with these OTK boots I purchased last season. If you need something with a little more coverage, pair it tights and a pair of pumps! I have had my eyes on these are they are currently 40% off!

Dress // OTK Boots // Clutch

It’s A Girl! Baby Prepping & Products I’m Loving

baby-products-4

Happy Wednesday, Dolls! We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. (Did anyone else shop the deals as much as we did?!) I kept finding myself filling my cart with maternity items and baby clothes. I’m officially in my second trimester (16 weeks in) so things are starting to feel very real. For those of you who missed it on our insta-story, we found out we’re having a girl!!

baby-products-5

We couldn’t be more excited, and all I can think about are tutus and hair bows. I’m finally feeling better now too, as my morning sickness has subsided, and I have my appetite back. In case there are any pregnant ladies in your life, I wanted to round up some of my favorite products I’ve been using, and items I already have in prep for baby.

baby-products-1

The Dock-A-Tot Deluxe +

I was eyeing the Dock-A-Tot before I even got pregnant. I had seen so many rave reviews about the product, so I knew it was on my must-have list for the baby. If you haven’t heard of this product before, it’s basically a baby lounger that you can take and use anywhere. Also they have tons of adorable covers, so you can change up your Dock-A-Tot look as often as you want.

baby-products-2

Wusic Womb Music

Julianna’s sister told me about this one! This heartbeat monitor makes it so easy to listen to your baby’s heartbeat, even in the first trimester. It’s only $55 on Amazon, and would make an amazing gift for any mommy-to-be! It’s so comforting to listen to your baby’s heartbeat whenever you want.

baby-products-3

The Ollie Swaddle

How adorable is the packaging for this swaddle?! The Ollie Swaddle is known for its incredibly soft, stretchy fabric, as well as the Velcro tabs that help to keep it in place around little ones. Much like the Dock-A-Tot, the reviews for these swaddles are too good to ignore. I just can’t wait to give it a try come May! ūüôā

Stretch Mark Prevention

I’ve been using Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter, along with Era Organics stretch mark oil. I don’t have any stretch marks yet, but I’m super paranoid about getting them. I’ve been using the Burt’s Bees Mama Butter for the past few months. I just put it on each day after I shower. My favorite part about it is that is doesn’t have a scent! (Major bonus during the first trimester when every scent made me nauseous.) Over the past few weeks I’ve been using the Era Organics oil as well. It doesn’t leave you feeling greasy, but moisturizes your skin immediately.

Athleisure with CALIA by Carrie

Staying motivated during the holiday months can be rough. With all the gatherings, traveling, yummy food and holiday cocktails, not to mention the freezing temps, & lack of sunlight (Chicago gals- we know you can relate- BRR!) making time for the gym often times falls to the sidelines. This holiday season, I’m trying to stay in some what of a fitness routine! There’s no denying it- when I’m more consistent with my workouts, I’m less stressed, have clearer skin, and feel 10x better in my jeans than when I’m not.

If there’s one thing that makes going to the gym a liiiittle less painless, it’s some cute new athletic wear! It may seem like an excuse to purchase some new digs, but it seems to work so I’m all for it ūüôā I was in need of some winter workout attire, and love this “Shine bright” sweatshirt and leggings by CALIA By Carrie.

If you’re like us, and are in need of some motivation, here are some other manageable tips to follow to help you stay on track with your fitness goals!

1. Drink lots of water– This is literally the easiest thing to do but I bet most of us aren’t drinking enough of it. I recently got a YETI and am obsessed with it. I can’t get over how well they work! Now that its getting cold, I love having a cup of hot water with lemon and honey first thing in the morning- before having my morning coffee!

2. Avoid snacking after 8pm-¬†This one is hard. I’m such a snacker! I try to cook a protein filled dinner so I don’t feel like grazing (as much) at night. I also love keeping Dove’s dark chocolates on hand for an after dinner indulgence. I always crave something sweet and this helps curb that craving without completely scarfing down a package of Oreos. ūüôā

3. Find an exercise you actually enjoy– After feeling like I was in a fitness rut for months I decided to sign up for Corepower yoga. I am much more motivated in a group class setting & if there is an instructor to push me than when I go to the gym on my own. Keep trying difference exercises or classes until you find one that sticks! Groupon is always a great go to when you’re ready to try something new!

4. Everything in moderation (yes, even working out!)- Nothing derails me from my fitness goals than feeling like I “failed” if I don’t manage to make it to the gym everyday. Let’s face it, thinking I am going to work out every day is just unrealistic. So instead of coming up with excuses for why I can’t make it, I plan what days I am going to workout in advance. Staying active feels a lot less daunting and less like a chore when you do it in moderation (unless you live for the gym life, in that case go for it :)).

5. Don’t deprive yourself-¬†This kind of piggy backs off #4. Life is too short not to eat the cake. So eat the cake!
